    James began teaching theatre and literature in 1989. Since this time he has also worked in the theatre indsustry and was co-director of the Melbourne based theatre company Polemic Productions Pty Ltd.

    James completed his PhD at Sydney University in 2010. His research focused on the intersection of theatre, religion and sexuality, evaluating the way in which performance can assist in dismantling socio-political prejudice.

  • Dr Maeve Louise Heaney

    Dr. Maeve Louise Heaney is a lecturer in the Faculty of Theology and Philosophy and a consecrated missionary of a Catholic Institute for consecrated life, the Verbum Dei Community.

    She completed her licentiate and doctorate at the Pontifical Gregorian University, in Rome, during which time she was doctoral representative and a member of the university Senate. She has taught both at the Gregorian and at the Rome Base of the Catholic University of Dallas. She was Bannan Fellow 2011-2012 at Santa Clara University, California, teaching at the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley.

    As a musician and composer, she interweaves the fields of theological aesthetics, spirituality and the arts, with a specialisation in the symbolic form of music in theological reflection.

  • Dr Josephine Laffin

    Dr Josephine Laffin is a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Theology and Philosophy. She lectures in church history and biblical studies. Before joining ACU in January 2014, she was senior lecturer in church history for Catholic Theological College of South Australia and the Department of Theology at Flinders University. Her research interests include Christian spirituality, art history and biography. She is currently researching the impact of the Second Vatican Council on the archdiocese of Adelaide
