The PhD examined the European policy of Harold Wilson's Labour Government, from Labour's election victory in 1964 through to Wilson's unsuccessful application to join the European Economic Community in 1967. The PhD tested the validity of the influential 'domestic politics approach' to European policy formation advocated by Simon Bulmer.
